South Shropshire Ramblers prides itself on being an extremely welcoming and friendly club with members from all over the West Midlands and Shropshire. We offer a varied programme of walks for all abilities and experience, with 22 Walk Leaders offering varied and exciting walk opportunities across South Shropshire.

Visitors and guests are welcome to join our walks and new walkers  are always welcome.

We also offer a programme of holidays, walking trips and social events that aims to cater for all our walkers abilities.

We are one of only five local Ramblers groups within the Shropshire area and have as a County delivered over 400 guided walks across the county in the last 12 months . The  South Shrophire group is extremely keen to protect footpaths and other open spaces to which the public has a right of way or access on foot across South Shropshire. Several members are engaged with partnership organisations across Shropshire and Herefordshire aiming to protect access to the countryside for all members and the wider society.

The group maintains a group of Footpath Secretaries located in Church Stretton and Ludlow. All Footpath Secretaries are experienced walkers who can assist with advice and guidance on any local footpath issues you may encounter within our area. The group is keen to support access for all ability levels across the South Shropshire area.

Group Walks & Events
Our group walks are generally 4-12 miles long. We offer Leisurely, Moderate and Strenous walks so that all walkers have a choice of activity which matches their experience and outdoor confidence levels. We regularly walk in Shropshire, Radnorshire, Powys, and occassionally further afield.

We encourage new members to join us as a guest for 2-3 walks to see if you like our walks. We operate a very friendly and informal group walking experience for all and ensure all new members feel supported for their initial walks.  We only ask that you wear strong footwear that you do not mind getting wet or very muddy and that you carry the appropriate amount of food and drink and wet weather gear. If you wish to walk with us regularly, and we really hope you do, you will be expected to become a member.

Path Maintenance
South Shropshire is an active group of our members who do a tremendous job in helping maintain and improve the standards of the paths in our area through partnership with other organisations. Their work helps to make paths more accessible for the benefit of ramblers and the general public.
